I'm surprised by how relieved I was. I thought I'd gotten to this point yesterday, when Biden was, like, "mathematically safe" but when Andrew told me the news I just crashed. Last night's nine hours of sleep being the exception, I've been getting like three or four hours of sleep a night for the past couple weeks so I was basically running on adrenaline and anxiety, and when that was removed I kinda crashed a little!

Watching a Black CNN anchor cry after announcing it, seeing friends' reactions ranging from personal relief to gleeful schadenfreude to determination to keep fighting all the other battles even as we celebrate all that today makes possible has been really good for me.

We had pizza and beer for Celebratory Dinner, with profiteroles for dessert if I want them. I think I'll be going to bed pretty early again then.

Ditto. We got the news while I was making dinner, but it made it all the more celebratory and I realized later how much lighter and cheerier I both felt and was acting even with a toddler who is resisting bedtime :P

I saw a clip of that black CNN anchor crying and nearly burst into tears myself.

Here’s hoping we all sleep better tonight.

My favourite thing is something I've just seen which combines several of those reactions. Huge crowds have gathered in Atlanta to celebrate -- and organisers from Stacey Abrams' organisation have turned up there with clipboards to make sure everyone celebrating is registered to vote for the Senate election.

And that's how you run a smart ground game.

I'm still guarded about it until the results are certified, but there is definitely a better mood around with the projections as they are now.

It took a while for it to sink in, but I've been feeling lots of relief too.
