[222/366] unique
Aug. 9th, 2020 10:21 pm9 What’s unique about you, that’s different from everyone else you know?
I'm the only Cosmo I know! I am, or was, the only person on my linguistics course who didn't look like they were born in a year that starts with a 2 (a thing I heard a fellow student say my first year: "I grew up like obsessed with 9/11, even though it'd happened so long ago). I'm the only person I know with my weird kind of visual impairment. I'm the only one I know who moved from a farm in the Midwest to Manchester.
There's probably other things, I dunno.

Date: 2020-08-10 04:18 pm (UTC)This person sounded British so I imagine the version they got will be like everything else about the U.S. here: distorted, but only moderately because the UK has a real love/hate relationship with the U.S.: glad that one of its former colonies, invested with its language and a comparatively similar culture, is the one that took up the baton of imperialism (however informally) after Britain had to formally give it up...but also a lot of resentment that Britain had to hand off that baton at all because (as brexit shows us), Britain bas really never gotten over losing its empire.
