9 What’s unique about you, that’s different from everyone else you know?

I'm the only Cosmo I know! I am, or was, the only person on my linguistics course who didn't look like they were born in a year that starts with a 2 (a thing I heard a fellow student say my first year: "I grew up like obsessed with 9/11, even though it'd happened so long ago). I'm the only person I know with my weird kind of visual impairment. I'm the only one I know who moved from a farm in the Midwest to Manchester.

There's probably other things, I dunno.

I was working.

Actually, I was off sick that day, because I had some horrific flu-like thing, so I ended up watching all the TV coverage while in bed in a haze, not quite sure if I was hallucinating or not.

I was working in a supported housing place with at least two residents who frequently believed things very similar to 9/11 had happened when they hadn't. If I'd heard about it from them rather than from the chap in the shop on the way to work, I would quite likely not have believed it.

I was working my summer job while completing my degree, we spent the best part of the next few days helping the Florida operation reassure worried parents that their kids in Florida hadn't been in the buildings. It's not just Brits/USians that suck at relative geography, Italians were really bad

We had one internet enabled PC in the office at the time, we were those helping crash the BBC news website

I'd have to think about that a while. Unless we go the easy route and talk about my sea otter and kelp forest tattoos. With prairie garden tattoos in progress.

I'm excited to get more work done in a few weeks.

Praire blue eyed grass and a dragon fly are next.

That student certainly knows how to help someone feel old, as some of us were starting university studies the year of that particular disaster. One hopes they got a good study of it, rather than all the pro-'Murica bullshit that happened afterward.

Sounds like a complicated relationship, as just about everything involving empire seems to be.
