(I'm not answering a question today because both lists I'm potentailly working from have questions I don't like for today.)

I had a one of those chats with [personal profile] mother_bones where we start out talking about her new vacuum cleaner and ended up talking about Life and our friends and how weird families are and Everything. It was really good. We do this every so often and I needed it.

And then I helped make dinner with [personal profile] diffrentcolours -- it's become our usual: all the veg in the fridge that needs using up put in pasta sauce, this time with a side of spinach and tenderstem broccoli because they were nicer steamed than being in the sauce. I'm so used to just cooking for myself; it's a little nerve-wracking to cook for other people but it's also nice when it is, inevitably, fine because it feels so cozy.

I've got a giant soft-toy Stitch to take home, a belated birthday present from people who couldn't come to my party. Probably because of the pictures of my onesie, a thing that also counts as a birthday present despite me having it six weeks ago or something. Kat said they picked up a small cuddly toy Stitch and a shop assistant said "You know the one twice the size is the same price, right?" This one is bigger than Gary. And very cute and fluffy (it's so soft!).

And I'm up to ~1000 words on my first essay (which is on "parallel language" use in Swedish universities), which is a third of the way done. Seems like a minor miracle. So I'm feeling okay about today generally.

Sounds like good friendships are good, your cooking has always been fine to me, far more veg than I usually manage (which is a GOOD thing).

Well done for essay progress. Sending encouragement and support your way!

Sounds like a reasonably good day.

I love when chats turn into deep talks.

I would like to know about parallel language use in Swedish universities! Linguistics does sound good, albeit a lot of effort.
