THE CAPS LOCK KEY ON MY KEYBOARD IS STUCK.

SERIOUSLY.

IT'S BEEN WONKY FOR A WHILE BUT NOW IT WON'T TURN OFF AT ALL.

I WAS GOING TO TELL YOU ABOUT MY THEORY OF GRAMMAR EXAM TODAY (STRESSFUL, GLAD IT'S DONE, INACCESSIBLE AF JUST LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE ABOUT THE CLASS), OR MAYBE ABOUT AN INTERESTING LINK [personal profile] conuly SHARED ABOUT CHEROKEE LANGUAGE LEARNERS, BUT IT'LL HAVE TO WAIT NOW.

HERE'S HOPING THE COMPUTER IS BETTER TOMORROW! (I WILL NOT KEEP DOING THIS IF IT ISN'T, DON'T WORRY. I KNOW IT'S HARD TO READ AND LOOKS SHOUTY. BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS KINDA FUNNY TOO.)

...oh DEAR.

I commend to you [community profile] capslock_dreamwidth, and if it would help to have someone look at software workarounds I'm happy to do that <3

I use a program called SharpKeys http://www.randyrants.com/2019/01/sharpkeys-3-9/ which lets you reprogram a key, so you can reprogram the Caps Lock key to do something else (I have it as an extra control key so I can't turn Caps Lock on by mistake). That should stop it coming back on.

As for turning it off in the first place - not sure. I'd try with the touch keyboard (which you can use with the mouse).

Yeuch! That's distinctly ungood. Hope it sorts itself out soon or you can work out how to fix0r it.

Well done for surviving exam!

I had stuck key problems with my HP laptop's keyboard a few weeks ago and found that buried in their support stuff is a tool for testing the keyboard - it pops up a pic of the keyboard and lights each key as you press it so you can see which keys are working, and which aren't. If you've got an HP, might be worth checking if it has that tool, in order to pin down whether the key presses are being registered, and if you don't have an HP, there may be equivalent programmes out there.

By the way, if you find Cherokee an interesting language you'll be pleased to know that the Cherokee Nation offers free online classes (real classes, not teach-yourself videos!) for the public: http://www.cherokee.org/About-The-Nation/Cherokee-Language/Online-Language-Classes

You don't need to be Cherokee.

Here's hoping the key unsticks or you can remap it to something harmless.
