My dad will always be cooler than me

"I like that Adele 21 album!" my dad said.

He'd listened to it while he was lifting weights in the basement; I heard the one of her songs I recognize, mixed in with The Animals and other stuff my dad has always liked.

I couldn't think of much to say. I can't stand Adele.

"I've got to keep up with some of the new music. Like that band, LFMOA or something?"

He looked to me for help, but I have literally no idea what he's talking about.

Still so uncool. At least now I have the excuse of being In My Thirties.

Indeed! It was just, lying on the couch reading a book, I had no Google, so in the story I was telling, it was impossible to guess what he meant. Writing it up for LJ, I could've Googled if I'd cared, but the point was the story at least as much as the facts behind it.

Okay: I should've said I can't stand Adele's singing. I'm sure she stands as much chance as anyone else of being a nice person :)
