The type basket of dreams

A few times last night I woke up because my pillow was being shoved off the side of the bed (no doubt by some mysterious force that has nothing to do with the man on the other side of me who chases after me for cuddles if I roll away from him).

And the first time I shoved it back I thought like a carriage return. I'm almost not old enough to know about manual typewriters and here I am, nine-tenths asleep, making analogies like this?

It's like a carriage return, and my head is tapping out my dreams on the pillowcase.

And even if you're barely old enough to remember manual typewriters, you're old enough to have seen a zillion films and TV shows with them in.

True, but I wouldn't know the names of all the parts if not for playing with one at my grandma's when I was little.

I can empathise about the pillow though - I get loved off the bed by M too. It's kind of endearing, but wouldn't be if I actually fell on the floor :-p

Thank you. It really surprised me; even at the time I was thinking "what a weird goddam thing to think. I'll have to remember that." :)

Yeah, getting loved into a corner of the bed is one of those things that sounds cute until it happens to you more than once. I often wake up perched on the edge of the mattress having slept in a weird position that I then struggle to get myself out of.

Andrew doesn't usually (but does often enough that it isn't remarkable) push my pillows off the bed -- if only because I yank them out from under his head so I can continue using them myself but he does often end up sleeping diagonal, but in such a way that his head is on his side of the bed and his feet are on mine so I only have a little triangle of space for myself :)

I get loved (pushed) off the bed too! Ours is only 4ft wide and more than 3ft off the floor so occasionally I land with a thump, thankfully I usually notice when my leg descends into the abyss before the rest of me follows!

I had a partner who'd snuggle me up to the edge of the bed, and then I'd have nightmares about the Grand Canyon.
