It's been such a shitty summer so far that, although I cringe to admit something that sounds so crazy, I feel actually sad and angry at the idea that the days are going to start getting shorter already.

You can't call it Seasonal Affective Disorder when you live in Manchester; it's all year here.

I know some people have a kind of seasonal affective disorder that means they prefer the lack of sunshine. This would not be a good time to mention that.
