I hate it when the World Series isn't worth watching. But this may be the worst one in ... well, a lot longer than I've been watching the World Series.

The Yankees and the Marlins would be uninteresting, even if it weren't for the fact that we know the Cubs and the Red Sox aren't there.

It's he Marlins' victorious return, after buying themselvess championship rings with a team of players they were just borrowing from other teams for a year, so they could gloat at how quickly their lame expansion team made it big. The Yankees, who perennially buy themselves good teams, have lots of money and lots of wins but no soul.

I hope they're all happy. They stole our magic.

It doesn't matter if it's curse or coincidence or choking or Bartman's fault. This is what we're left with, and it sucks.

Well, lame or not, I'm a rootin' for them Fish to win it all again. I'm doing this for a couple of reasons -- first and foremost is I'm hoping George Steinbrenner blows a freaking headgasket on National TV and takes a header out of his personal private box. Not only would this make for an interesting dramatic TV moment, it'd be damn good for baseball (heck maybe the Commissioner of MLB, Bud Selig, could try and reach out to save Big George and get tangled up with him as they plummet to their respective deaths -- after all they've done everything they could to kill baseball, it's about time baseball returns the favor...

And after the crappy way the Cininnatti Reds treated Jack McKeon (hey Reds fans you could've made it to the Series if Jack had stayed your manager), a Marlins win would be poetic justice.

If you can't have lovable losers like the Cubs and Red Sox playing each other, the next best thing is rooting against the big, bad Yankess -- no matter who they play.

I agree with your friend...

...let's root for the Marlins to crush the Yankees! I heard yesterday that they've been to the World Series 6 out of the past 8 years. C'mon, that's no fun.

I'm not even a fan of baseball, and I will still rooting for the Cubs and the Red Sox. I rooted for the Cubs because they haven't been to the World Series in so long, and I was rooting for the Red Sox because I always support the teams in Boston (after the Minnesota teams, of course) because I have a long-time, sports-fanatic friend who lives out there.

O'well...life will go on...at least for me. :)

Thanks for informing me a little bit more on the history of the Yankees/baseball in general. As I mentioned earlier, I'm not a big baseball fan, so I was definitely interested in what you had to say.

And I agree -- I'd much rather be rooting for the underdog than scouling at a team that embodies all that is wrong with society.

I can say this with a certainty: It is not Bartman's fault.
