Set phasers on "stun"
Apr. 19th, 2003 10:33 amI wake up to the sounds of eggs cracking, something that's probably been going on for a while before I'm aware of it. Visions of scrambled eggs and French toast flutter through my head. I can hear my dad's electric razor in the bathroom (which is next to my bedroom) so it must be my mom making breakfast--a bit odd, but I'll take it. (It's not at all odd for my mom to cook; my dad never had to learn and isn't about to now, so he won't even boil water, but breakfast is the one thing he does do, especially on Saturday mornings. He can make eggs and bacon and pancakes and oatmeal.)
I get out of bed and wander into the kitchen. Bacon is sizzling. Ooo, bacon. I haven't had bacon forever. And instead of eggs or French toast, I see a waffle iron. Ooo, waffles! I am easy to please this morning.
Well, I slept until 9:41 with no cats, no roommates, no phone ringing. I didn't have to step over anything when I got out of bed. I am well-fed. I took a shower this morning without getting in anyone's way or having anyone get in mine (my family tends to shower at night; they consider me an anomaly). I got new shorts yesterday, and something cool to wear for tomorrow ... a skirt and shirt and sweater I will actually wear at other times (my mom insists on new clothes for holidays, and usually they stay pretty new after that because I don't like them much).
Of course I'm pleased.
