Various friends have done this and I liked the idea: what should be my new year resolutions? Feel free to suggest anything at all, serious or silly, and I'll pick some I like.
My new year resolution for the last few years, which I recommend to anyone, is to make more time to do creative things; in my case that's largely sketching and cooking; but writing or music or flower-arranging or whatnot count just as much.
Well the resolution I do have, because it has to happen this year, is Finish the Damn Kickstarter Book.
I was hoping to have it done this year. But things keep happening that I have to process before I can write it! (But my friends have explained to me it's a fine Kickstarter tradition to have things take a lot longer than expected.)
So hopefully there will be lots of time devoted to creating that.
One of the best ones I ever made for myself was "One Film a Week". Didn't quite manage it but I had fun trying and saw so many great films I would not have otherwise even tried.
This year I'm thinking of watch more television (yes seriously, I am not being ironic here).
Or perhaps once a fortnight (weekly would be too much) I will go out and be a sociable person and talk to other people. That's a bit scary (for me) and might lead to distress and general flailing.
Films can be hard work for me unless they're new enough to have audio description. Sometimes even then. :)
More than one person I know has the goal of watching more TV. It sounds funny but I totally can see it (again it's not something I do a lot of -- we don't actually even have a TV, but we have Netflix and Amazon so I count that).
I was wondering what station I'd pick, and then I realised I'll be passing through Partick when I do a railway line walk in Glasgow in February, so yeah :) (I have no idea what Partick is like.)
