That's it

I've given up hoping this will ever change and am now resigned to the fact.

I will never be done reassuring my parents that I am always going to be a U.S. citizen.

It's all Ted Cruz' fault.

Blame the current crop of xenophobes in the Republican Party.

Ahaha. Yes, I had that issue. Lots of concern that 'you don't want to give up your UK passport'. The concept of dual citizenship had apparently passed them by.

It would almost be worth giving up your US citizenship just to see their reaction :D

Is this because they won't remember or is it because of another bit of immigration-related government viciousness?

<3 Either way, it's shitty and I'm sorry.

Ahh. I thought it was going to be related to Our Glorious Leader's new £35k policy.

Worth noting that although dual citizenship is indeed a thing, the US does not recognise it in its own citizens. Which basically means if want to fly out, use the US one and then the UK one to skip the queue on the way back. Making it more of a faff / worry having to carry round two passports, but if you don't want to, and fly out on the UK one, you'll have to arrange for an ESTA visa (which may cost money - unsure how much because I always just fly out / book the ticket on the US on and then show the UK one when I fly back).

As far as I'm aware, there is no cost to ESTAs
