Holiday city
Dec. 13th, 2011 10:38 pm"I'm really glad to hear you might get things sorted out,"
tartful_dodger said after hearing the progress that's being made regarding my still-nonexistent-after-two-years benefits. "And if they backdate it..."
It's been more than two years since I started this claim. Even at fifty quid a week, that'd be an unimaginable amount of money. I'm much more likel to have it backdated several months, rather than multiple years, but even that's a crazy possibility. And after such a long time I've had every ounce of optimism, every expectation of fairness, crushed out of me.
"I don't even know what I'd do, with a bunch of money right now," I said. Except I do; throw it towards high-interest credit-card debt. Exciting, eh?
"Go see Peter," the answer came quickly, as if by magic. Of course people don't speak in hyperlinks but everything I talk about there suddenly appeared in my mind like a ray of sunshine in the gloom.
"Because that's more of a holiday," she explained.
"Yeah -- California!" I agreed.
"That's, like, holiday city."
