Mar. 8th, 2020 11:15 pmI have made it through my busy weekend mostly successfully. I'm going to have to skip my lecture tomorrow morning to get my essay done on time (it's due when the lecture finishes), but I'm still counting it as a success.
When I got home from work today, I thought I might not be able to go to Leeds this evening at all -- that I'd have to write the essay then if I wanted to get any sleep tonight -- but I did and I'm glad.
We saw at least one but
strange_complex reckons not the other of the first two M.R. James stories we ever saw Robert Lloyd Parry perform, all dressed up and by candleight, and they're at least as good now as they were then. And it's always great to have an excuse to visit the Leeds Library, especially since I don't have as many of those as I used to; it was nice to see it again (and smell it, mm it has such a good lots-of-books and old-books smell).
And I'm glad we had a chance to catch up with
strange_complex first over dinner -- we all delighted in the "make your own, toppings are free!" salad/pizza options at Mod Pizza and ended up with very unique combinations. Good to get a chat in before the ghost stories in the dark, where it'd be a bit antisocial! I know it's been a very people-y weekend for Andrew (who, very uncharacteristically, is in bed before me) but I'm glad to have seen a couple lesser-spotted friends.
