Andrew and/or Gary wake me up in the middle of the night almost every day. Otherwise I often wake up by myself, often much too early because I have sleep-maintenance insomnia. I do set alarms though for work and uni, so they're there if I need them.
I've had an unusually bad night's sleep -- maybe the howling wind and the rain rattling against the windows didn't help, nor Gary's whining when he'd been abandoned downstairs in this scary situation -- but I think it was just anxiety because I've had more difficult intrusive thoughts this morning than usual. I "called in" sick to work (text message, before my employer would even be awake) and dozed a bit eventually.

diffrentcolours and I were woken to the news that his gazebo was trying to climb the back fence, and the poor thing had to go out in torrential rain to remove the fabric that was catching the wind and damaging the whole structure. He was outside in wind and rain for a while and the most wholesome thing I saw today was Gary staring out the windows with great concern at him the whole time he was outside. It took Gary three goes over the whole morning to go outside long enough for a wee, so he knew how bad it was out there and I think he was alarmed to see one of the humans he cares about being out there for such a long time.
