Overall, a very good weekend.
I went to Perkins. And Baker's Square--twice! (The second time shouldn't count; it was ten o'clock in the morning so I had to order breakfast. I like breakfast food and I sometimes am hungry at ten in the morning, but this wasn't one of those days, so being compelled to eat wasn't all that much fun. But hey, that time I didn't have to pay for it, because I went there only so my parents could see me before I left Mankato.) In between, I ate the cheesy potato soup Ali and Darren made. Not much food for three days, perhaps, but it was all good food.
I watched Waiting for Guffman, a Modern Marvels episode about siege machines--a perennial favorite--and the South Park movie. Ali says they used her clitoris for the voice of the clitoris in that movie. Such authenticity!--I was impressed. Mine must be mute; I've never heard it talk like that.
I saw a play called Stage Blood. A friend of Matthew's is in it, so he wanted to go, and since I was around this weekend I came with. It's a comedy about people performing Hamlet, and it was entertaining and very funny (it's where the subject line for this entry came from, naturally).
I got new shoes! I needed them, but necessity doesn't mean they have to be boring, and I hope they aren't. They're Pumas--which caught the interest of a couple of people--and they're a nice blue color, sort of sky blue I guess. A sky on a really good day. I love that color of blue ... but I picked these just because they're wilder than the navy blue ones in the same style. Darren told me people are going to think I'm a Goth now because powder blue is the new black. My thoughts upon hearing that went something like this: Goth? Me? I don't think I have to worry. I wouldn't call this powder blue, I always thought that was lighter. I think I just heard someone sincerely say that some color is "the new" some other color. I think black is still black, and powder blue is never sky blue. How does he know this kind of thing, anyway?
I rode in Matthew's new car, which is fun because he's still fairly new to this manual transmission thing (though he's learning much too quickly; at this rate he'll have it perfected before I see him again). There was some Lurching, and a couple of cases of Sudden Engine Death Syndrome, but there were some smooth bits too. And a lot of acceleration. Matthew's normally sedate driving habits were apparently at least partially due to the character of the old Buick Century, because now that he has the ability to accelerate wildly, he often does. This should be the car with the "Diese Wagen geht wild in jede Richtung" (or whatever that sentence is) stenciled on it. It would also make a nice Getaway Car, I think. He's right, though: once forward motion is achieved, fun is had by all.
