Don't it always seem to go ...
Sep. 21st, 2003 11:07 pmMutti and Vati go to different churches, so they're at different times. They're both also a block from my grandparents' house. My Catholic dad and his two involuntarily-Catholic kids got out earlier, so we'd walk to Grandma and Grandpa's after church to wait for my mom to get back.
(My grandparents wouldn't be there--they are (or "were," I suppos I have to say) the kind of old people who'd go to church Saturday night so they could drive to Ellendale to be there when the restaurant opened so they could have eggs, hashbrowns, toast, and whatever kind of meat went with the otherwise-unchanging "special" that week.)
Anyway, they wouldn't be there but my grandma would have had coffee made and waiting for my dad, and she'd have some rolls from the bakery in a Tupperware container on top of the coffee machine, to keep them warm for us.
Now my dad buys gas station coffee and maybe a roll when he gets his Sunday paper (he called it a Calvinpaper for years, but all things must pass, even Calvin & Hobbes, and now it's just the paper).

In regards to your choice of Counting Crows cover of "Yellow Taxi" as Current Music:
Speaking of truth and lies: IMHO the Sunday Comics are the most truthful part of the paper. I really have to read that section more...
