A new mask appeared today!

mother_bones bought one of these. I really like the neoprene cover/strap and velcro. And because it wraps around the back of your head rather than near your ears, it doesn't interfere with her BAHA (bone-anchored hearing aid).

I joked that I was disappointed I didn't have anywhere to go this evening because I wanted an excuse to use it. But then I did, sadly because mother_bones needed some OTC medicine, but that meant a nice stroll around B&M and we got to pick up snacks too.

And on that short trip I was really impressed with it. The seal is so good my glasses didn't fog up at all. It felt more comfy to wear it (though people disturbed by things on their face might struggle with how good the seal is, I found it oddly soothing, like a weighted blanket?).

And while mother_bones and I, while we were trying it on in the kitchen, said we hoped this mask would look scary enough to put people off, what ended up happening is the young guy at the checkout kept looking at me while D went to fetch something we just realized we'd forgotten, and he said "Your mask is really cool." I thanked him. "Is it...for covid?" he said amusingly hesitantly. I grinned (though he couldn't tell of course) and said yeah it was. Hey if I make masks look cool, I'm happy with that.

Also I noticed the guy behind us in the queue was wearing a mask too (a regular black one, FFP2 or whatever, not like mine but also not a surgical mask worn under his nose or anything). Masks are coming back! Spread the news.

Hmm. The website asked me if I was in USA or UK and I chose the first and it timed out. And when I go back it just keeps going to .com and errors and not .co.uk lollll but for the second I saw it, it did look cool.

I am looking for a less leaky mask for better protection but also on very cold days here my glasses’ fog will FREEZE. Lol Wisconsin.

same! If it helps, I use these at work. I like that they have sizes because adult masks tend to cut into the skin under my eyes because they shift around. I wish they'd come back faster. I think about 10-20% of people here are wearing them when I go out. It's higher when I'm at a doctor's office because they hand them out when people come in the door.

Awww, that conversation! I’ve definitely spotted more masks in the wild over the past few weeks (i.e. I’m not always the only masked person at the shops, yay). Hope this apparent trend continues.

Ooh, this is interesting, I'm still looking for a reusable mask that works well for me. It looks to me like all the masks on the Stealth site have exhaust valves; have you come up with a way to cover those or is it more that trying to do source control doesn't seem worth it at this point?

Interesting (especially that it fits round a BAHA, an issue I have with mine AND sodding glasses).

I'm also considering getting a cheapie pair of spex on my next new prescription with small frames to better fit round masks cos my usual ones are intentionally large-lensed for MyWonkyEyes reasons.
