I hope the wait is not too long and there is nothing worse than the waiting. Also that staff treat you and friend kindly and decently and are able to help fix things.

I only ended up waiting with them for about three hours. They're being really harassed about covid rules now so even the fact that I had to help them with basic communication wasn't enough to get the doctors to let me stay around once he actually started to get seen and get tests and all that. Still we both figured they'd get admitted and they did eventually so I'd have had to go home sometime anyway I guess.

I'm sorry the hospital weren't supportive of your friend's need for a companion/assistant. I hope friend was able to manage OK without you and that they're getting the care they need.

LMK if links to some disabled people's words/legal guidance etc for having a PA/carer/companion in NHS spaces is useful. I won't splart it at you otherwise but I know the legend who legally forced NHS England to be a bit less shit.

The wait wasn't too bad. The medics were really insistent that I couldn't go with him which is a bummer but from his reports they've been pretty good to him.
