[300/365] vaccines

Three hundred days into this year, damn.

Yesterday morning, mother_bones and I were in adjacent rooms, me on the internet her on the phone, making appointments at the same time -- me for a covid booster, her for a flu shot -- and without either of us realizing, the appointments ended up being only a couple hours apart this Saturday morning. So for lucky diffrentcolours, sometimes polyamory means waking up early on a day off and driving both your partners to different places so they can get different vaccines.

Then yesterday evening, when I couldn't do anything about it, I got the same text she had gotten about booking a flu shot. I called them this morning and was at least able to get the same time slot, which makes things easier logistically.

I hate needles so it feels kinda weird in one way to book these so close together but also why waste two days on hating needles when I can get it over with in one. I haven't reacted badly to either shot before so I should be fine, and mother_bones said "We will look after you if you feel ill, feed you ice-cream and ibuprofen." Seems like a good plan.

I think it says a lot that I was a little surprised at this comment; I've so quickly gotten used to having such wonderful, caring people in my life that this didn't even seem like a very remarkable story when not long ago it would've been much more so. I'm very glad this feels normal now, too. :)

I did joke that from a monogamous point of view polyamory seems like more work (though I imagine it can also spread work out!), this is literally a case of that XD At least you got the appointments consolidated, yay! I hope the needles go without too much awfulness.

Thank you, they were indeed not too awful. (Circumstances dictated that mother_bones was with me for one and diffrentcolours for the other, and they both told me that I'd done really well, haha!)

I've done monogamy too and it certainly does seem to me like polyamory is more work in some ways but less in others, so I guess it evens out. :)
