Only two months after getting myself some skates, I finally got around to asking mother_bones for help in buying pads so I can safely use the damn things. She's very good at online shopping and braved all the frustration for me (there was much aggravation, to the point that I felt bad about asking for her help even though she assured me it was fine and I also felt justified in asking for her help, heh).

I had some vouchers (the kind you can use in lots of high-street stores) that exactly cover the cost, but the pads are from ebay so she said she'd pay for them and take the vouchers herself. It feels good to be getting stuff with money my volunteering earned me.

Having looked up the retailers that'll let you spend these vouchers online, she's decided to look on Argos for outdoor Christmas decorations. So far my favorites are the T-Rex (it's wearing a Santa hat!) and the rocket (with Santa looking out of it).

"Tenuous connections to Christmas" feel about perfect in this household (where the Halloween skeletons get Santa costumes in November and stay out til new year)!

So if I'm getting cute skate pads and I might get to live in a house that might have a big inflatable T-Rex outside, I feel like that's good things for me with both the money and the vouchers. It feels like cheating!

I don't think it is unreasonable to ask for support with online shopping, I couldn't do it at all while off my face on morphine cos it got too confusing. Kim had to do the research to find me a suitable top/lower swimming outfit that I could use for hydro that is easier than a swimming costume but isn't sickeningly girlie. Last week, Amazon tricked me into clicking the Amazon Prime trial (again), so we've set reminders to cancel it and I'll keep taking free Prime till they realise tricking me is not OK. (Hate being tricked by colour and prominence of text and things into clicking the wrong thing).

Hurrah for cute skatepads and a great voucher swap. Mother Bones sounds awesome as a human and shared 'good things' is a sign of compatibility if nothing else! It is so nice to see you be genuinely happy and in a household where there is give and take all round with understanding of spoons-fail as well as regular acts of kindness between everyone.
