[283/365] canine victory

I grew up with outside dogs, because I grew up on a farm, but my dad has talked my whole life about wanting a little dog inside the house. My mom has always been vehemently opposed. Too much mess and smelliness for her deep need to have perfect control over her surroundings.

But! My dad just said they're looking for a new dog (their previous one passed away earlier this year) and it'll be an inside dog! This is truly miraculous. I cannot believe my mom has changed her mind.

Dad says he's found a beagle and he'd call it Snoopy. I hope he gets it! But he says it's a bit pricey, all the dogs he's been looking at are like $100 and he's hoping for more like $40-50 he said. The beagle is like $300.

Still, no matter what dog it he gets, there are no words for how excited I am for him.

I like to think Gary helped with this. I was worried my mom wouldn't live staying at my house because I know she hates pets in the house. But she has always been really chill with him being around! Which is pretty impressive considering how much he sheds and what a chaos gremlin he is. So maybe I should've known that was an early good sign for Operation Get My Dad a Little Inside Dog.

I think they'll end up with a cheaper dog (even rescues cost money for their vaccines and neutering etc) but I hope for a beagle. :)

Oh nice! I hope they get the perfect dog for them. I do remember hearing that beagles can be high-strung, but hopefully it'll be manageable with lots of attention and exercise! Also that name, awww

My dad would give it soooo much attention and also goes on two long walks every day so I think any energetic, demanding dog would be lucky to have him. :)

I know right! Obviously my dog is the best dog but other than that beagles are right up there on my list (also spaniels but I think that'd be big for my parents).

Now I am intrigued by your default spaniel being big! My default spaniel is a little King Charles - I guess just because those were the first spaniels I met.

d'awwww. Beagles are my favorite. If I ever got a purebred, I'd definitely get a beagle.

I am glad your mum is changing her mind and she and your dad will probably have a doggo in their house soon. I hope the doggo brings them a lot of happiness.

I hope so too. I've been randomly remembering all day today "my dad can get a dog!" and being excited all over again.
