[179/365] I am starting this story in medias res, I know

When the dental triage person called me back to arrange an appointment for me, she reasonably enough asked how my tooth got broken. I had to tell her my dog headbutted me in the face, and she just said very matter-of-factly "you're the second one tonight."

Which made us all laugh a lot, so I'm kind of glad it wasn't just me because I'm still feeling a bit hysterical from the shock of suddenly missing half of one of my front teeth.

I am okay, it's monstrously inconvenient and uncomfortable in the truest sense if the word: not painful but it feels eerie and awful and is actually upsetting me a little? But the tooth broke in a way that's not left me bleeding or in loads of pain and after being on hold forever I do have an appointment first thing tomorrow to hopefully get it sorted, and a nice diffrentcolours who's willing to drive me there because of course its somewhere completely random and difficult to get to on public transport. And soon this will be a funny story I am sure.

Me too. It's surprisingly distressing. Hopefully it'll all be okay tomorrow morning and soon I'll have a funny story about this.

I very much appreciate your ability to locate the precise kind of discomfort involved. That is some impressive emotional acuity.

I broke one of my back teeth once and that was bad enough -- not as big an existential challenge as a front tooth, I think.

Yeah, even the very tiniest tooth chip seems to feel disproportionately weird and wrong and jagged on the tongue, doesn't it? Something this big must be really weird and disconcerting.

Hope it's all feeling better soon, and that Gary gives you lots of cuddles to make amends.
