I was delighted to be woken up even though it was the early hours of this morning, partly because I was awoken by a kiss on my shoulder which was very sweet but mostly because it woke me up from a dream where I had to go to Ikea!

I hadn't even gotten to Ikea yet! I was just on the way! And I was already so grumpy about it!

This post starts out sweet and them becomes outright funny. This is a good post and you should feel good. And please don't go to Ikea. No one deserves to be made to feel that grumpy.

It's been at least a decade since I've been to Ikea. I may have ordered from the catalog once or twice since then. I don't miss it AT ALL

I went once to buy a table (with the person who was now kissing my shoulder, as it happens) and we both hated it so much. I've been once since but as moral support, not because I had to buy anything. Otherwise I outsource this to the friends I have who absolutely love going to Ikea, they're strange but useful! :)

See, and I moved to a city that has no Ikea, and am still occasionally horrified by this lack. It’s not that I *enjoy* going so much as once or twice a year it’s incredibly *useful*.

I live near the biggest Mall in the country and I've never been. I have a very strong aversion to overlarge retail spaces filled with 'shoppers'.

I've been to that mall, with my parents, a bunch of times and only liked it when I was a kid and went on the roller coaster. :) It's hideous otherwise.

Yeah, that mall, any large mall, is an exhausting thing, and to be avoided if possible.

I find Ikea mostly stressful, but I do enjoy seeing the options in person, rather than online. Mostly I miss easy access to affordable bookshelves and the occasional piece of kitchen ware.

I find it more useful to commission my friends who like Ikea to go for me. :)
