[154/365] Anyone But England
Jun. 3rd, 2019 09:32 pmI watched much of England's innings in the men's Cricket World Cup match against Pakistan this afternoon.
They were chasing a big total, but they like a chase and they nearly made it. It was a really fun finish, Root got his hundred but then got out soon after, which was my first real hope that England would lose after an impressive partnership from him and Buttler made up for early wicket losses.
When Buttler got out after that, I could really enjoy myself. It still ended up pretty close! But I was getting more gleeful as the required run rate rose and as the white men in the pub with us were grumbling.
It was really dramatic cricket, really fun to watch, and of course it would've been even if England would've won but it's always nice to have it go your way, especially if you're in a minority.
I'm so proud of myself for managing to fail the Tebbit test when I'm not even from a cricket-playing country.
