1) Are your parents married or divorced?
Yeah. They've been married forty-five years now!

2) Are you a vegetarian?
Yeah, except sometimes I eat processed (no skin or bones) chicken when food is too hard for me to do and I'm not getting enough protein.

3) Do you believe in Heaven?
No.

4) Have you ever come close to dying?
Not except for all the times I've nearly walked out in front of cars.

5) What jewellery do you wear?
My wedding ring. I have bracelets and earrings that I like but never wear enough.

6) Favourite time of day?
Depends on the day. I like early mornings, I like late nights. As long as they're for good reasons and not miserable ones.

7) Do you eat the stems of broccoli?
Sure.

8) Do you wear makeup?
Hell no. A friend put some on me for my wedding but I haven't worn any since.

9) Ever had plastic surgery?
No.

10) Do you colour your hair?
Not often enough. I need help to bleach it because I can't do it by myself.

11) What do you wear to bed?
Pajamas, ranging from t-shirt/boxers in the summer to fuzzy warm ones with penguins on them now (for some reason I have two pairs that are fuzzy and warm and feature little penguins that even Andrew who never notices clothes keeps saying are cute and make me look happy when I wear them so that makes him happy.

12) Have you ever done anything illegal?
Ever? I must've.

13) Can you roll your tongue?
Yeah. I learned when I took Spanish in high school. It's coming in handy in Arabic, too.

14) Do you tweeze your eyebrows?
Once the same friend did, when I was maid of honor in someone else's wedding. I couldn't tell the difference, didn't like the experience, and don't think I'd be any good at it myself. Plus I like how big and dark my eyebrows are.

15) What kind of daps?
I had to google this! Assuming it means "rubber-soled shoes" here instead of "fly-
fishing by letting the fly (but not the line) bob lightly on the water," I have black Chuck-Taylor style high-tops are have zips up the sides. I love them.

16) Do you believe in abortions?
I both know that they happen regardless of my belief in them, and think they are a good thing that should be readily obtainable, safe and legal everywhere.

17) What is your natural hair colour?
Dark brown

18) Do you have any children?
Nope! Phew.

19) Do you snore?
No.

20) If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be?
Stealing [personal profile] softfruit's answer here: Bed. Nini. Oh shit, there's more...

21) Do you sleep with stuffed animals?
I used to but now I have a real animal who's better because he's warm. But I have Mark the Shark that [personal profile] diffrentcolours and [personal profile] mother_bones got me at the Birmingham Sea Life Centre, and Ruaraidh, a dog I won in a raffle at Scottish Lib Dem Conference.

22) If you ever won the lottery, what would you do first?
Pay off the mortgage. Fix the house. Give a bunch of money to my parents and friends so they could do similar.

23) Gold or silver?
Silver

24) Hamburger or hot dog?
I'm vegetarian, but I like veggie versions of either about equally, providing they're not terrible quality.

25) If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Pizza, probably.

26) City, beach, or country?
Yes please! I like them all. Probably prefer the country.

27) What was the last thing you touched?
That key on the keyboard, just now.

28) Where did you eat last?
At this table where my laptop now is.

29) When's the last time you cried?
Last night. Well technically this morning, because it was like 4am. I'm super fun to be around right now.

30) Do you read blogs?
Yes, and so do you if you're reading this! I still miss Google Reader, though, and read other blogs that aren't on Dreamwidth.

31) Would you ever go out dressed like the opposite sex?
I'm actually going through a phase of that again now: cargo pants most of the time, waistcoat when I had to dress up a week ago. It's a lot less decision-making to do when I'm dealing with a lot of cognitive fatigue, which I have been lately. And it's warmer in the winter, too: I'll probably go back to skirts/dresses in the summer, I usually do.

32) Ever been involved with the police?
Only when we've been burgled.

33) What's your favourite shampoo?
The only shampoo I've found that works on my oily hair is the purple juniper one from Lush.

34) Do you talk in your sleep?
I don't think so, but I do sometimes have conversations that I don't remember later with Andrew when he's coming to bed and I've been asleep for several hours. I apparently say the same kinds of things when asleep that I do when awake.

35) Ocean or pool?
They're both good! I've only been in oceans cold enough you don't want to wade above your ankles, though (in Wales and in Oregon). Oh no wait, there was that one day in Greece but I spent that trying to mediate between uninterested Andrew and his dad who insisted everyone had to get in the water.

36) What's your favourite song at the moment?
This one, which the Discover Weekly playlist started with this morning. God bless Spotify.

37) If you could, would you?
Probably not.

38) Window seat or aisle?
I don't care.

39) Have you ever met anyone famous?
Nick Clegg is probably the most famous person I've met so, no?

40) Do you feel that you've had a truly successful life?
Gosh, I hadn't thought about that. I feel better about this than I have in a long time, since I started university again.

41) Do you twirl your spaghetti or cut it?
Sometimes twirl but sometimes I just kinda shovel it in my face.

42) Ricki Lake or Oprah?
This question seems to have time-drifted here from the nineties?

43) Basketball or Football?
I don't care. Basketball is less dull than most codes of football.

44) How long do your showers last?
Just long enough. I get bored easily.

45) Cake or ice cream?
Eh, probably cake, but I'd rather something savory if you've got it, ta.

46)
I agree.

47) Are you self-conscious?
Too much.

48) Have you ever drank so much you threw up?
Oh gosh yes.

49)
I disagree.

50) Have you been in love?
Yes.

51) Where do you wish you were?
Minnesota. I miss it this time of year.

52) Are you wearing socks?
Yes

53) Have you ever ridden in an ambulance?
Technically, but as a friend to the person who was riding in the ambulance in the way we more commonly think of that. I haven't needed one myself.

54) Can you tango?
I don't know what that is (beyond "a dance") but I know I can't do it by myself!

55) Last gift you received?
Katie gave me some Kraft Macaroni and Cheese yesterday because she saw it in QualitySave and thought of me.

56) Last sport you played?
Yoga's a sport, right?

57) Things you spend a lot of money on?
Mortgage, bills, plane tickets to see my family.

58) Where do you live?
Manchester.

59) Where were you born?
A town in eastern Minnesota, apparently. I've never knowingly been anywhere near there, so it's a bit weird. Only learned this once I started needing it for passports and suchlike immigrant things.

60) Last wedding attended?
Alex and Richard's I think? It was the best.

61) Favourite fast food restaurant?
For someone who loves it as much as I do, I don't really have a favorite. Just give me pizza or curry and I'm happy.

62) What was the best thing about 2005?
The part where my brother was still alive?

63) Most hated food?
Olives. They poison the food around them with their olive-y taste.

64) What's your least favourite chore?
Tidying because it involves deciding where things should go and that's stressful and impossible.

65) Can you sing?
Of course! Badly. But that isn't what the question asked. I do enjoy singing.

66) Last person you instant messaged?
SJ.

67) Last place you went on holiday?
What even is a holiday. Spring Conference in York is the closest probably!

68) Favorite regular drink?
Fizzy pop is my weakness.

69) Current crush?
Completely ridiculous and incredibly inconvenient.

70) Do you want people to do this meme?
I am a liberal; they can do what they like!

Other slightly-famous people you've met: Alan Moore, my friend Annie Wallace who now stars in Hollyoaks. Were you in the queue with me and my dad at the Leonard Cohen concert when I met Paxman again? If so, that. PZ Myers. You were called a lesbian by John Bercow once. Probably more.

Basically you lead a life of glitz and glamour and celebrity hobnobbing or something.

"What kind of daps?"

...I'd translated that from some other word for trainers, pumps, plimsols etc.

I read it as "when you do the fistbumping handshake-substitute, how do you do it?", so your answer was entirely surprising to me! [grin]
