An old school "have you ever" meme
Oct. 7th, 2017 07:47 pmTattoos: talked about getting one after my brother died, never did.
Surgeries: Nope. One of the things that made me weird at blind-kid events was that I hadn't had any operations on my eyes; most of them had.
Broken bones: I broke my arm when I was two, climbing out of my crib because I wasn't gonna take no nap! And I broke a bone in my foot the summer after I graduated from high school.
Shot a gun: Only squirt guns (water pistols in British English).
Quit a job: Yes, though not as often as they quit me.
Flown on a plane: Far too often!
100+miles in car: Many, many times. It's a hundred miles to my parents' house after the plane trips! I miss proper road trips but I've enjoyed a few in Britain too, to Dundee and Cambridge and Taunton and Brighton and maybe some others I'm forgetting.
Gone zip lining: No but I totally would.
Watched someone give birth: No.
Watched someone dying: Not actually at the point of death, but dying yes.
Ridden in an ambulance: Yes, helping friends. Never ridden in the ambulance as the patient.
Been to Canada: Just over the border, when I was small enough to barely remember.
... to Europe: I live there. For the moment, anyway. Stupid brexit.
... to Washington D.C: Nope
... to Florida: Nope
... to Colorado: A few times. Colorado Springs, Denver, and Fort Collins where my aunt and cousin used to live.
... to Mexico: Nope
... to Las Vegas: Nope
Sang karaoke: Yes, often. Jennie who I got this meme from said Glee is like karaoke, but it's not, it's way better than that. The quality of songs and backing music is better.
Had a pet: all the time growing up, and of course we've had Gary the last two years.
Been downhill skiing: Yes, on a fourth grade field trip. I had "help" from a teacher for blind kids and it was awful so I hated it.
Gone snowboarding: No. Kneeboarding and wakeboarding, but not snowboarding.
Ability to read music: Yes I can do that though I'd probably be a little rusty now.
Rode a motorcycle: No.
Rode a horse: Yes
Stayed in a hospital: I think when I was one and had pneumonia, but obviously I don't remember it.
Driven a stick shift: Yes. Much easier in a car than on a tractor, which is how I learned!
Ride in Police Car: No
Driven a Boat: Yep, my aunt used to have a motorboat. And I've driven paddleboats (pedalos in Britain). And canoes and kayaks but they don't really feel like driving. Oh and when I was a kid I got to drive a Duck (WWII amphibious vehicle repurposed for tourism) in Branson.
Eaten Escargot: No.
Seen a UFO: I mean, I'm blind, most things I see flying are unidentified!
Been on a Cruise: No, though my parents keep threatening to take me with them.
Run out of Gas: I have been in cars where this happened. And more, memorably, where it almost did.
Eat Sushi: Yeah.
Seen a Ghost: I've heard what I think are ghosts but is probably just my pattern-matching brain making a signal out of noise. Never seen one, though.
