Yes, it should. I wrote this on my phone, which is prone to that misspelling. And because now I'm in the muddle of nowhere, I don't have the internet connectivity I'd need to go and fix it (my phone lets me leave comments relatively easily but editing entries requires a lot more data transfer). I hope the LJ Idol voters can forgive me :) And thank you anyway.

It seems to be that most things people think of as fun -- eating ice cream, having sex, whatever -- can become the worst thing in the world if done too much. The satyrs are used in stories to illustrate some kind of point or help move a plot along, but they are really one-dimensional characters (as so many in myth are) and I do wonder if such beings could have happy lives.

Mention of The Hedgehog Song can be found in several books by Terry Pratchett (it is a particular favorite of Nanny Ogg, who is a lovely old witch with a naughty grin and a bottle of booze in her knicker-leg). I'm sure more information on the song, like its tune and the rest of the lyrics, can be found online by any interested person, but as I am internet-impaired I can't point you to them now :) I can tell you the last line of each of my verses here was meant to echo its last line, which is "But the hedgehog can never be buggered at all."

I'm a huge Nanny Ogg fan :) This was so light and fun and clever - and I like the hint of darkness in the second stanza. If you work more on this piece, it might be interesting to bring even more darkness in as contrast.

I must admit the darkness and complexity that you and similiesslip noted wasn't apparent to me when I was composing this -- you're quite right, mind! -- and that makes it all the more enjoyable for me on one level, even as I'm chagrined on another (that pretending-I-meant-to-do-that stuff is never something I'm good at) for not having realized what I was doing :) Thanks for your comment, insightful and helpful as yours so often are.
