Um, happy new year?

cosmolinguistMine's been awfully eventful already, in that something that had been building up, due to illness as much as anything I think, finally exploded like a popped zit late last night. And with all the ensuing pus one would expect. I'm still feeling very fragile and dealing with the fallout, very slowly, because my brain isn't working very well. I am well looked after, though, by friends old and new, and I am endlessly grateful for them, for you, all.
I have deleted my Twitter account and unfriended (one of the new words allowed in the dictionary in 2009, apparently; what a lovely linguistic legacy we are leaving...) a bunch of people here on LJ. I don't mean any offense by it, I'm just feeling the need to batten down the hatches a little bit, to make my presence here a bit more small and friendly as I have enough else that's big and scary in my head just now.
