I'm reassembling the bookmarks on my new computer, and I thought I'd take the opportunity to ask what blogs you read, what things on the internet you think I'd like.

This is not only because I can't remember a lot of the stuff I had in my old bookmarks, but that helps.

So far I've got Pharyngula, Stephen Fry, Andrew's blog, and Babelfish. You see I need the help.

Also:
In 2008, minnesattva resolves to...
Buy new hackers.
Keep my narrativium clean.
Take evening classes in hedonism.
Get back in contact with some old koans.
Eat more chaos.
Stop cuddling with princemuchao.

I highly recommend Fugly Horse of the Day...she is a hilarious writer who publicly shames people who are breeding inferior horses that end up going to slaughter...grim topic, but funny as hell.

Obviously Neil Gaiman's blog is a must-read, and if you have never checked out Lisa Snellings' blog (http://slaughterhousestudios.blogspot.com/) I can HIGHLY recommend it. She's a lovely mix of deep thoughts, insight into a working artist, and homey touches of motherhood, wifehood, and friendship. I just discovered this site as well (through Lisa's blog) and I've been pretty blown away. Not a quick or a soft read, but I have the sneaking suspicion that I'll be spending time here regularly: http://www.edge.org/q2008/q08_index.html

I was thinking something about eating chaos myself, and decided that I'd gorged a bit this past year. A side of mayhem would be nice, though. :)

NotCot (http://www.notcot.org/) and FFFFound! (http://ffffound.com/) for design and image randomness.

Tastespotting (http://www.tastespotting.com/) and Megnut (http://www.megnut.com/) for food porn and quasi-foodie goodness.

Boing Boing (http://www.boingboing.net/) for cooler-than-thou retro-futurism and Kottke (http://www.kottke.org/) for more mindful links.

Boing Boing fell out of favor with me a while back, if only because everything posted came with a terminally opinionated commentary, i.e., "this is awesome because we say so."

And I thot the same thing when I was redirected to kottke.org.

My Bloglines subscriptions. Particularly recommended: Andrew Rilstone, Charlie Stross, and Cosmic Variance.

Of my LJ-friends who use their LJs as blogs as well as social networking tools, [livejournal.com profile] livredor in particular writes good stuff.

The only blogs I regularly read that aren't pretty personal ones where you probably need to know the person are [livejournal.com profile] elephantfeed and loveandliberty.blogspot.com both of which are very Lib Dem / gay / Dr Who / James Bond in their focus. They might tickle you, especially young Millennium, though it helps to read him from the start if you find the time so you're quite clear who Mr Balloon is and such.

Otherwise most of my bookmarks are my own profiles and the homepages of things I run here and there - facebook, myspace, the B*R*A and so on - not much use to anyone but me. Oh, and there are things in my LJ linklist, like the bus timetables for Manchester and Radio 4 listen again.

You'll just have to ask him for virtual cuddles then. :-)

Hey, that's not fair... you barely even STARTED!

I follow painfully mainstream blogs for the most part, but no life is complete without lolcats in your feed. http://icanhascheezburger.com
