How sweet it is

As soon as we were on the train to
elrestodemivida's house, Seth started digging in his backpack. He eventually brought forth a plastic bucket, a plastic bucket that looked very familiar to me though I'd not seen one in at least a couple of years.
I think I squealed a little, actually. I know I wondered why
elrestodemivida and Andrew could fail to respond similarly. Then I realised that they didn't know how great this was.
And I'm sure this won't seem like a big deal to anyone reading this. But it was a big deal. This was Sweet Martha's cookies.
I was so excited. I offered them around, but of course
elrestodemivida couldn't have any (she's vegan) and Andrew took one but probably thought it was just a regular chocolate chip cookie, and slightly stale at that.
I feel sorry for him and his lack of understanding. Just looking at that bucket of cookies had transported me to a better time, a time when I still got to go to the Minnesota State Fair. I knew there had been a time when this bucket had been heaped so full that you have to eat half your body weight in still-warm chocolate-chip cookies just to be able to get the lid on.
"I knew you wanted to go to the fair," Seth said. "So I thought I'd bring a little of tha fair to you."
After I've eaten as many as I can for most of the days since then, there's only one left now, and some crumbs. But I am still happy.
