I warn you, it is currently pretty much a building site. But now there are actually some floors in some rooms, and it's got a roof and running water, what more do we need...
Your concern is heartwarming, but we're going to see historthecrow's band, and probably bringing some more people from Manchester with us, so having a good reason and fellow northerners there should deflect some of the horror.
It does, sadly.* I knew I didn't have much chance of that working out anyway.
Opinion is divided on this modifier. Andrew doesn't think it's sad. He doesn't want me to leave before I absolutely have to. I know it is sad. I had what I thought were good reasons to want that. I also know that I am right.
Sad? Sounds like a bleedin' tragedy to me. I was genuinely envying Andrew's prospective experiencing something so authentically, flavoursomely American as visiting a State Fair in the Midwest. Or was it a County Fair? Anyway, I have a nice book about Minnesota and how lovely it is (it's nice despite the fact that its list of famous Minnesotans shamefully omits Terry Gilliam and Bullwinkle J. Moose). I shall bring that the band rehearsal and show the silly sod what he's missing.
Ah, it's nice to have someone who understands. It is a tragedy! The Minnesota State Fair is legendary; it is, I think, the second largest in the country, and it's great. And Minnesota is great. I miss it. Many of my friends are from there, as well as such illustrious personages as Terry Gilliam and Bullwinkle J. Moose. It's good to know I have some of you Englishes on my side.
What I'll be missing is an extra month without Holly, because she'll have to spend some time over there before I am in a position for her to get a visa to come back. Since that is independent of when she goes, the earlier she leaves the more time I spend without her, which is *not* a good thing.
But did you toy with the idea of going? I certainly understand that you wouldn't want to shorten your time with Holly, but I just remember how I nearly wrecked my life by trying to have my temporal cake and eat it.
