I have a really cool colander.

Well, I hesitate to say that I have it, because I still feel like we're stealing it from Andrew's mom. I know she willingly gave it to us, along with some other dishes, when we got this flat, but I guess I associate it with her because I remember seeing her use it and thinking Hey, that's a cool colander.

It's metal, shiny silver, and has words stencilled on the side: blueberries, pasta, beans, etc. These cut-out leters provide much of the drainage capability, though there are also a few little holes punched here and there.

I don't know why, but for some reason I think this is the greatest thing ever, and it makes me happy whenever I use it, in a way that's almost always quickly forgotten until the next time I make pasta or something.

We have a colander like that, but it has names of all sorts of different pastas only - linguine, spaghetti, macaroni etc. It's well swish.

I'm jealous - my colander is rubbish! It's metal too, but just with holes rather than posh lettering. But the problem is that the holes are too small, and there are too few of them, so it doesn't drain very well. I end up tipping it up to pour the excess water over the side of it, or else I get soggy vegetables.

I am glad to see that you appreciate how lucky you are!

That's the kind of fun little thing that can just brighten any mood. Like Corn Mo (http://www.cornmo.com) ;)

Who would've thought anyone would say

"Hey, that's a cool colander."

But it made me smile that you did.
