We were at the Hardee's down by the bike shop. I think it's still there, but it might not be a Hardee's. I don't even think we have those in this part of the world any more. Anyway, this is a long time ago.
We were at Hardee's with our moms, who tell us they've been best friends since they were in seventh grade. And for some reason, I remember him telling me that the Moon isn't tiny at all. Nay, indeed, the Moon is in fact huge.
I dismissed this immediately, of course. I knew better. I've seen the Moon. It's about as big as my fingernail. This kid is a few months younger than me. He obviously doesn't know anything.
He insisted. The Moon is big! It just looks small because it's so far away. He told me some people went there and it took them three days.
Three days! Ha! I always knew this kid was crazy.

Date: 2004-12-17 02:23 pm (UTC)Me, I knew the moon was far away because the Spoon (http://www.80snostalgia.com/classictv/buttonmoon/) family needed a rocket to get there. I guess I didn't think much about the size though. Or care that there might be a family of wooden spoons visiting the moon.
