Andrew's brother was standing in the living room with his arm above his head. This afforded Andrew and I a ncie view of his armpit hair but not much else. Andrew asked what he was doing. Sadly, I was able to reply at about the same time Chris did: he was trying to get a signal for his mobile phone.
The arm movements and wandering-around-the-room tactics must have seemed somehow familiar to me, I guess.
Chris wandered out of the living room but came back a minute later, announcing that when he put his phone in this jar he'd found, he got a bit of a signal. Andrew saw the jar and said that it was the one Martin had given me the night before. I laughed, happy to see it go to some good use. Chris said the jar must be keeping the signal in it as he put the phone and the jar down.
When he came back a while later, took the phone out and looked at it, I asked him if it'd worked. He said there was still some signal in it, so he was happy.
And here I used to use a Mason jar to keep my change in; I didn't know they had magical signal-storing properties!
