I think I'm about the last person I know to read American Gods. I'm about five pages into it and I already like it. The inside cover of the book says that Neil Gaiman is from England, which I knew, but now lived in Minnesota, which I didn't. He probably doesn't now—the book is three years old—but even so, it made me happy to read that. I like England and Minnesota.

I decided yesterday that I must have lost a little weight, because my pants—or trousers, for you silly English people—kept nearly falling off. And in fact I could take them off without unbuttoning them. (I was similarly worried about one of my skirts last week. I mentioned this to Andrew and he said "Get a belt!" I told him I have them, but not here. So he took off his—we were walking somewhere at the time—and insisted that I wear it because he wasn't going to take it back.) I don't have money to buy new clothes, though, so I'm stuck with these. Oh well; as problems go, this one isn't bad to have. Andrew's proof that I'm losing weight is that the skin on my back is looser. Hearing that made me laugh.

This may be the best song ever.

You know me, and I haven't read it yet. I haven't even heard of it. :)

And having that kind of weight/clothing problem is the best kind to have. :)

Love ya!

Oh, I'm not really into that stuff, so that would explain why I haven't heard of the book. :)

I will! The car's just about packed! I bagged things in a very silly manner -- snack foods, breakfast foods, eating utensils...

I'm such a (cute) dork. :)

Yeah, I am. Seth was pretty amused when we saw how organized I packed everything. The big hug and smile said it all...

You could? Or Andrew did?

I'd rather you let me take them off. But okay. ;)

Yes yes, that's why you need to stopover in Toronto on your way back, you know.

You know, you wouldn't have such a weight-loss problem if you were living somewhere with lots of food to eat and nowhere to go under your own locomotion... ;-)

I could almost buy into the more-sugar-in-food-here thing. I usually don't want foods that are supposed to be sweet—ice cream, cake, candies, etcetera—because I find them too sugary. Maybe that's a side-effect of general sugar overload.

My mom lost a good deal of weight when she lived in London, but of course they still had rationing then.

He still lives in Minnesota.

Neverwhere is my favorite book of his.

Nope. You're not the last person to read American Gods. I'm sure you'll finish before I start. :D
