Once upon a time, Andrew went "Argh!"

Now, since he was sitting at a computer at the time, I figured this probably meant the usual sort of thing that makes him say "Argh!" The usual is that a program--most likely Nautilus (the GNOME flie manager) or Nicotine (the Soulseek client for Linux), but sometimes more flamboyant things like X itself--was misbehaving.

But I still have to ask; if I don't, some day he'll be bleeding or on fire or something and I'll just think his computer crashed again.

Besides, there is some variety. The reason I'm telling this story is because one time, his answer to my "What is it?" was " 'Close other tabs'? No! Why would I want to do that?" Great lover of Schadenfreude that I am, I couldn't help but laugh at that, because I knew that he'd run across the one downside to Mozilla's renowned tabbed browsing.

You can right click on a tab to get a bunch of options: New Tab, Reload Tab, Reload All Tabs, Close Other Tabs, and Close Tab. Andrew doesn't seem to think "Close Other Tabs" deserves to be there; I acknowledge that it's useful but wish it were farther away from "Close Tab."

For yes, I have just fallen victim to the very thing for which I laughed at him before. That's karma for you.

I was actually going to write about something (hence having an Update Journal tab open in the first place) but now it has wandered away from my still-slightly-headachy mind. Just so you don't think I was actually just going to tell that story, because despite having foreign words like "karma" and "Schadenfruede," it's still not very interesting. I could sum it up in a haiku.
"Close Tab" is one thing,
"Close Other Tabs" is different.
Aim mouse carefully!

I've been have the same problem with my browser recently. Although I wouldn't blame the browser so much as I would the QWERTY keyboard. CTRL+W closes a tab/window; CTRL+Q closes the app.

Have you tried Galeon? (http://galeon.sourceforge.net/) Its tab behavior is more sensible than Mozilla’s, and it integrates better with Gnome. Even though I think it’s technically the development branch, get the most recent 1.3.x version you can; it’s very stable (the only crashes I get are plugin-related and would happen in Mozilla too) and I’ve been using it as my everyday browser for more than a year now.

You know full well you're welcome to use the Linux machine any time you want to (and in fact you'll HAVE to most of next week, as I'm once again working with the wonderful .NET (sarcasm))

Should Firefox install,
get Tabbrowser Extensions (http://white.sakura.ne.jp/~piro/xul/_tabextensions.html.en)
"Undo Close Tab" rocks.

I'm trying to figure out if I should be disappointed or grateful that they're spread across the world and not all right here.
