Just so you know...
Jul. 22nd, 2004 12:22 pmI did get 'regular sized man' from a real sentence in a real book, the book I am reading, which is called Are YOU Dave Gorman? (It's about a guy called Dave Gorman who makes a drunken bet with his roommate that there aren't 'loads' of other people called Dave Gorman, so he finds other people with that name in places like Scotland and France and goes to meet them and take their picture.) It's a good sentence, it goes, It looked like a regular lawnmower with a tiny man on it, but I've dealt with perspective before so I quickly realised it must be a giant lawnmower with a regular sized man on it.
But really, it's not a book to get all excited about, grammatically speaking, because they do silly things like randomly italicize words like 'Tesco' and 'Whopper' and 'Rhône.'

What part are you at now?
The Italian Job
