The people I've mentioned this to in real life seem to think I'm crazy...and while I am in fact crazy, it's not because of this.

If you're holding hands with someone you're standing or walking next to, the shorter person's hand should be behind the taller person's. This is comfortable. Otherwise, the shorter person's arm will be twisted into a position that elbow joints don't really like, and that is uncomfortable. It's true; try it if you don't believe me.

As a short person, I know this well. Taller people don't seem to notice, as neither way seems uncomfortable for them.

Actually, I do notice. And you're correct. Maybe it's because of how much height difference there usually is, but I find it uncomfortable to hold hands the "wrong" way, too.

All you have to do to prove it is to do it both ways, and then ask which is more comfortable.

Hey, as long as the end result is good, and the journey isn't painful. :)

Next time he bruises you, get him to add some teethmarks so you can tell everyone it's a Hickey. *snerk*

(Sorry, I amuse myself waaaay too much.)

Being tall (I'm 7'4" on my very best day), and I find holding hands (at least in my single days) with most average normal girls--those being in the 5'2" to 5' 6" range--to be very uncomfortable. But the way you suggest to hold hands, is probably correct...A solution for tall/short couples is to forget holding hands and just grab your significant other across the buttocks. Yeah, sure, you'll get a few odd looks (especially if you walk into a church that way) but at least you won't lose each other in a crowd.

OMG you are so right. Thank you, I thought nobody else did that. My ex was only 5'4" but STILL a lot taller than me, and I was constantly dropping his hand and picking it back up to be more comfier for me, not to mention anyone else i've ever held hands with (they're ALL taller).

with 50 icons, I picked a few that indeed would be appropriate for various situations ^__^

NOONE EXPECTS THE SAME ICON AS YOU!

Hehe, thank you Holly for exposing (corrupting?) me to Monty Python. I may never be a fanatic, but I'll always get jokes like this.

Oooh, someone else that didn't know Monty Python! I still haven't watched any (I fell asleep 3 seconds into the holy grail). So don't get anything. *sigh*

That's okay...I fell asleep my first time into The Holy Grail as well. (But then again it was at 2:30 in the morning...) Monty Python's probably not for everyone...but some of their stuff--such as their skits--is unbelivably hilarious, IMO.

I've rarely had to deal with holding hands with shorter people, but my hand ALWAYS goes in the back.

I'm short myself. And I know there is a wrong way and a right way to hold hands. I'd never figured out WHY exactly. I must try this next chance I get. You so smrt.

If you are talking about holding hands, shouldn't the title of this entry be "PDA?" (I assume since you are holding hands in a prone, standing-up position, you are talking about being affectionate in public.)
