I'm not usually one for such things, but there are a couple of irresistable memes (things almost actually worth the name, not just quizzes and such like that).

One is from [livejournal.com profile] fairy_dianae and [livejournal.com profile] kalieris. "I want everyone who has friended me to say why they added me and then post this paragraph in their own journal. Maybe this way we'll get a lot of funny stories, and maybe a lot of 'cause I was bored...' Either way we may learn more about why we continue reading those we do read."

I know I added a bunch of you--and if I remember why, I'll tell you--and I know some are obvious--like the people who are my friends in real life--but some I have no idea about, or have long since forgotten how we became "friends" on LJ.

The other one I read in [livejournal.com profile] ottercat's journal, and it made me giggle. I didn't know if I should do this, but I couldn't resist. It's simply this: "If there is someone on your friends list with whom you would love to have an epic, sweaty, damn near legendary, 12 hour fuckathon, post this sentence in your journal."

(I fixed the grammar in both these quoted "memes" to make it more to my liking. Yes, I am an English major geek. As if anyone doubted it, at this point.)

I added you because you added me first, I'm almost positive. Though it might have been the other way. But it was a "friend of a friend" thing -- you and I "met" through [livejournal.com profile] ismelljello, what, a year ago now almost. Wow. Time flies.

(For the record, I totally don't remember how he found my LJ, but he added me first.)

As I recall, you friended me after you read something I wrote in the [livejournal.com profile] linux community. You must have been drinking heavily at the time. I added you back because I dig any woman who runs Linux :-)

Come to think of it, it was [livejournal.com profile] welovegeeks. I do know that it was you who friended first because when you popped up in my friends list I was like "I've seen that name before, but where, and who the hell is it?"

I friended you first, if I recall, after seeing you post something in [livejournal.com profile] welovegeeks. Whatever you posted intrigued me, and whatever was in your journal that day was interested me, so I friended you, at first because you were a possibly single geek grrl. ;)

Also:
"If there is someone on your friends list with whom you would love to have an epic, sweaty, damn near legendary, 12 hour fuckathon, post this sentence in your journal."
Oooh! Oooh! pick me!! :P

I didn't think I implied "only" me ... I wouldn't be at all put off if you wanted to include someone else *grin*

I have no issue with sequential either, as long as I'm in there somewhere ;) I'd even drive you around if you like...

Well, *I* have no problem with sequential either (or indeed with concurrent), but I am ahead of you in line and you may have to wait quite a while for your turn if I get my way ;)

*shakes his fist at you*

Wait a minute ... is there a reason we can't share? Other than the whole "being different countries" thing ..

clearly this should be fixed. ;)

I *said* I was fine with concurrent ;)
But since she's going to be over here for the forseeable future, it would appear I have the advantage in the whole being-in-the-right-country bit :-p
BTW thanks for helping me convince Holly she's great - if a few more sane people speak up she might even start to believe us ;)

I added you because your journal is fairly the reason I eventually began one. Oh, and that knowing-you-in-real-life thing, too, I guess...

I friended you because you were on both [livejournal.com profile] kalieris and [livejournal.com profile] chuck_lw's friends lists, and anyone on both had to be cool.

And only 12 hours? How dull...

I added you because I knew that someday you would post that you wanted to have an epic 12-hour fuckathon with someone on your list, and that person who would inspire you do post that would be me.

:D

I added you as a friend because you are a "real-life friend" and because you talked me through signing up and starting my LJ. As I recall, you added me mere minutes after I added you :).

I added you because you were a bright, funny, flirty thing who could be equally pestered by [livejournal.com profile] dracole and [livejournal.com profile] gentleman_lech

or I added you after you added me because that made me realize that you weren't on my list, and I had to correct the error...

I added you because of your sense of humor - and yes, you're right, it was the "WWJD? He'd laugh at you!" comment that tipped the balance. ;)

I added you back because you added me and I ususally reciprocate...

No, scratch that. I can participate after all, since I did add you first when I switched from [livejournal.com profile] opticnerves to here. I added you because you're bloody interesting. Isn't that the cheapest cop-out answer you've heard all week?

I think you added me first...well, you were doing things to my friends list, so maybe you added yourself. At any rate, I belive you were my first (online) friend. And we are friends in real life. So, that is why we read about eachother on livejournal.

If I recall correctly, I looked at your journal after you posted a particularly amusing comment on [livejournal.com profile] chuck_lw's journal. You were cool enough that I added you immediately. :)

Yeah, Andrew says that a lot. It was his repeated insistence of that fact that eventually led me to add Helga to my list. :)

Oh, most definitely she's cool. I've been kicking myself for not friending her sooner.

It's funny you should mention our little cult. I've noticed that my friends list does have little subgroups in it. And they overlap a little, too. It's kind of nifty. :)

*some* of my groups of friends get on very well, but others... there are some groups of people I actively try to keep apart (some friends I actively discourage from knowing I have a LJ, even) simply because for example my Beach Boys fan friends are usually *extremely* conservative (small c) whereas my Discordian friends are the complete opposite, and I already know they would hate each other...

I agree. Although I tend to be one of those friends that gets passed around, as opposed to one that gathers others.

Helga is just about the coolest person I know. She's also one of only two people I have ever really asked for advice about problems more complex than 'do I buy the Wondermints CD or the Negro Problem one', and the only one of those two whose advice made sense when I received it. She's good people.

The little subgroups thing is definitely shown up by Mindmap (http://ljmindmap.com). If you look at mine (http://www.livejournal.com/users/stealthmunchkin/168029.html#cutid1), you're all in the top right-hand corner, branching off the Discordian group in the centre by way of Helga and Chuck. ([livejournal.com profile] fairy_dianae isn't there because I hadn't friended her yet, but she'd be with the rest of you...

What I find *really* odd is the way people are connected - generally when someone friends me I can find two separate links back, both through totally different subgroups.

For exampole I friended [livejournal.com profile] tyrsalvia because she's on the list of, among others, [livejournal.com profile] thee_kaos_child, a transsexual pagan American goth who believes in the utter inferiority of most of humanity. [livejournal.com profile] roadnotes friended me because I was on [livejournal.com profile] tyrsalvia's list, but [livejournal.com profile] roadnotes was also on the friends list of [livejournal.com profile] commonswings, who is a shy British Christian librarian with a penchant for 30s jazz music and the novels of P.G. Wodehouse. [livejournal.com profile] commonswings and [livejournal.com profile] thee_kaos_child would probably loathe each other, and have *literally* nothing in common, but they connect in two separate ways via friends pages (or did, [livejournal.com profile] roadnotes seems to have done some friends-list culling...)
