8:16 AM meet up with slavering ugly fat man and think "Why the hell did I do this?"

*KIDDING* for those of you who take offence at my occasional self-deprecation...

Do you know what airline you're going to be on, BTW?

And you think *you're* shocked? I'm the one who managed to persuade you to come over here. I can't even normally persuade someone to put the kettle on and make me a coffee, let alone relocate to another continent.

I miss you, BTW.

First, a congratulatory w00t to you!

And second, does this mean your parents didn't disown you for wanting to go?

Oh, I expect a post card :-)

Rock n roll! and Manchester. Does this mean you'll be a 24 hour party person, like in that movie about the Manchester sound?

I'm afraid the closest *I* come to being a 24 hour party person is owning a copy of that DVD, so I suspect the same will apply to Holly too ;)

Oh, but I'd bet you'd have signed the Smiths!

Actually I wouldn't. I think Morrisey is the most overrated man in the universe - he has no sense of melody, can't sing, and all his lyrics boil down to "It's terrible being an alienated insecure articulat person like what I am, I hate my life"

Although my old band *was* going to be produced by Andy Rourke, before we split up...

I was just reading about the old lawsuit, in which Mr. Rourke prevailed in arguing that the partnership should be 25/25/25/25, because nobody had actually written down the MorrisseyMarr position that it should be 40/40/10/10.

I think the Smiths were a good group, but it IS hard to imagine that Factory wouldn't have signed them, as Factory was so much about trying to show a Manchester spin on things, and the Smiths, for better or worse, came to be seen as quintessentially mancunian.

It amuses me, a bit, that Morrissey seems to be inspiring a new generation of worshippers. He's got the talent, I suppose, but the Smiths were always very much a band of their time. But maybe I'm missing their timeless appeal :).

Amen! Finally, an English person who doesn't refer to Morrissey as if he's some sort of god.

I fail to see a stopover in Toronto in that itinerary!

Since I haven't been following very closely, I'm probably missing something. However, something seems to be missing from that itinerary - like a return flight.
