My roommate just walked by my room and said, "You know, Holly, if you do go to England and fall in love with an English man and marry him and become famous, remember that I was in favor of this idea!" (I'd just explained the situation to her a few minutes ago.)

I laughed. "All right, Asha, I will."

"You know, when you think 'Gee, I wonder who my real friends are,' I just want you to remember that I supported you from the beginning. And if I become a famous Hollywood actor, I want to be able to come visit England and stay in your grand house."

Then she went off to do something else, and I went back to writing about Russian intellectualism.

This makes me think that your friends are cooler than mine. I think mine would mostly wonder how they're going to continue the role-playing campaigns without me. :p

Don't underestimate your own abilities. Role-playing's easier than you think.

[makes mental note to come up with a one-shot adventure to run during Holly's visit]

It's possible to be enough of a geek? Doesn't that imply that it's also possible to be too much of a geek?

[looking a little confused and very concerned]

Yay! I am loved! [hugs back] As long as you don't think I'm too much of a geek, all is right with the world. ;)

[breathes sigh of relief] Oh, good. For a second, I thought there was some geekiness that was just too much for you to handle. Glad to hear that's not true. :)

everything is wonderful and new

She doesn't - I put the track on an MP3 CD for her.
It's actually only on the US version of the album - in the UK it's a B-side, to the Parallel World CD single...

Hmm... how odd. I was told that the US version didn't have the bonus acoustic disc that came with the UK version but *did* have the B-sides from the singles... I must have been misinformed...

yeah, i really want that bonus acoustic disc, but don't want to buy the record again (at import price, no less).

the US version has 3 extra songs, two remixes of regular album tracks and "sunday breakfast treat."

Yeah, it's out soon.
When Holly comes to the UK I plan to take her to a Tilbrook show in July... I've seen him around 20 times (including 3 Squeeze gigs) and met him briefly a few times. Lovely bloke.

i've seen him 6 or 7 times, including one time he stood atop a park bench in a church courtyard and played for over an hour (after another show).

i also rip him off left and right in my own music.

I just want to know if I can come with Thad when he flies to England to play kazoo at your wedding... ;-)

Hey! My old band had a kazoo player, if anyone's going to play kazoo at our wedding it'll be him...

I've actually performed a marriage ceremony at which the bride walked down the aisle to her dad's harmonica playing...

I believe an arrangement has been made between [livejournal.com profile] kwakhead and [livejournal.com profile] holly_lama for Thad to play a particular tune on kazoo at Holly's wedding. But perhaps there could be a kazoo duet! :-)

Actually, harmonica at a wedding sounds pretty nice... :-)

Actually it shouldn't be a kazoo duet, it should be Swanee Kazoo. Assuming none of the people on Holly's friends list are fans of old Radio 4 panel games, I shall explain. The radio show I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue has a regular feature called Swanee Kazoo, in which contestants duet, one playing kazoo and the other playing swanee whistle. It is funny.

You're my wife now, Dave!

*wonders if any of Holly's friends at all will get the reference*

I won't be on properly for a few hours, BTW, just popped on briefly to check mail...
