Plans for the summer

The KUMM news director was wandering around the library with a microphone, asking people if they'll answer a question for the Weekly News Review.
The people at the computers near me seemed unenthused, but I took off my headphones and asked, "What's the question?"
" "What are your plans for the summer?' " he said.
I thought Oh, well, too bad I have no plans for the summer. But then I came up with a brilliant idea. "Can I make stuff up?" I asked.
"Most people do," he said. "They don't take me seriously."
I smiled.
He turned on the mike and said, "So what are your plans for this summer?"
And I said, "Well, I know this random guy I met on the Internet who lives in England and he thinks I should come stay with him for the summer, so I was thinking about doing that." I grinned at him and he laughed a little as he turned off the mike.
"Is that true?" he asked me.
"Yeah, it is, actually," I said.
What a way to get on the radio.

Date: 2004-04-23 06:14 pm (UTC)Too bad they're mutually exclusive. If I go to England, I won't be driving around the US.

Date: 2004-04-23 09:38 pm (UTC)Well, maybe I can. :-D I want both.
You're right, though, a roving f***fest would have made at least as good a story to tell the guy.
