Last night I played Trivial Pursuit with
evil_grapefruit and my mom. One of the questions I was asked went something like "What Canadian comedy troupe is made up of Dave, Bruce, Kevin, Mark and Scott?"
Jenn groaned. I recognized it as the kind of noise I make when someone I'm playing with gets a question that's ridiculously easy for them and I know it. This was ridiculously easy for me--and both she and I knew it--so I was able to smugly reply, "That would be the Kids in the Hall."
My mom turned over the card and said, "Nope." I don't know if my mouth opened due to surprise and alarm or my desire to say something like, "Well, how coincidental! Because though I don't remember all their names, there's a group of Canadian comedians, which I quite like, that I know contains people named Dave Foley and Scott Thompson that goes by the name 'Kids in the Hall'!"...but then Mutti added the answer on her card, "Ralph Waldo Emerson." And before I could say anything about that, she said, "Oh, two cards are stuck together!" She took away that one and confirmed that the real answer was indeed "Kids in the Hall," and Jenn and I laughed a lot.
Ralph Waldo Emerson, indeed.
