Impolite society
Apr. 1st, 2004 02:07 pmSo,
evil_grapefruit and I are talking about pee (remember that I found 20p in my purse and said "Oh, p!") and I told her that someone told me that they don't use "pee" as slang for urine in England.
"What do they use, then?" she asked.
It occurred to me that I did not konw. Nothing had been said on the matter. So she suggested uri. Short for urine, I suupose. And started using it in sentneces. "I have to go uri now." "Don't eat the yellow snow, it may have uri in it." "Uri is bad for you. It contains ammonia and...other harmful things."
Then she thought it sounded like the name of a country. (Indeed, when I first typed it here, I capitalized it wihtout even noticing. But that looked odd.) "I'm from Uri, and I speak Urian." I suggested it may be in the Ural Mountains somewhere.
