It rained on Sarah and I as we walked to class this morning. I'd forgotten my umbrella, but that was okay. It wasn't a bad rain. A bit cool for my liking, but still just a gentle, refreshing rain. Now, of course, it makes me think of Matthew, who also really likes rain ... but then, lots of things--almost anything at all--make me think of Matthew these days. I exclaimed over how much I liked the smell of it, and noticed that as I was walking back from class, too. Instead of walking past sprinklers giving life support to the grass on the mall, I was walking through puddles on the sidewalk. The water splashed over my sandals until they were soaked, and my toes were wet and cool and happy. On the phone last night my mom didn't like the nonchalant way I told her that one of my sneakers has a hole in the bottom. "Pretty soon you're going to need something else!" she said. I wasn't worried. "You can't wear sandals forever."
Can't I?
Can't I?

Man. That's NUTS!
Is anyone else reminded of the episode of M*A*S*H* in which Klinger wore winter gear during the heat wave, trying yet another zany scheme to get his Section 8? Or is that just me?
