After crying over my clicking finger for a while, XMMS wanted me to ask you to be a little more polite. After all, it's always "play this", "sort that"... It hasn't quite been the same since the linux kernel preempted it's thread, and the package manager isn't talking to it anymore. XMMS is quite vulnerable and lonely right now.
Yeah, my computer and I totally need better communication ... it seems XMMS has struck up some kind of compromise with me, though: it'll play all the mp3 CDs I have except the one I really want to listen to.
I suggest you copy the contents of the CD to which you really want to listen into a subdirectory of your home directory. There should be enough space there, and XMMS might be more willing to play from a hard disk than from that CD-ROM (if there's something peculiar about it).
I thought of htat, but haven't tried it. I don't remember why, now. Maybe because I thought for a whlie something was wrong with the CD--even though it looks perfectly fine. Or maybe because I haven't turned on my computer in a couple of days. Yeah, I think that's it. If I can't play music and I can't have Internet, what good is a computer anyway? :-) All right, I won't say anything so blasphemous any more. I'll probably play around with my computer after it and I are in our new dwelling tomorrow.
