Life cannot possibly be all bad ...
Jul. 21st, 2003 07:14 pm... when
paninogirl, who's been here with her
setharoo these last couple days, stands at my doorway and says, "Holly, close your eyes and put out your hands."
I respond, naturally, with, "What?"
"I got you a present," she said. "But I didn't wrap it. So you have to close your eyes."
I can't argue with presents. I closed my eyes and she put something in my hands. I opened my eyes only to see ... a Corn on the Cob Serving Set! I am now the proud owner of four yellow plastic trays and eight little plastic things with wires to stab the ends of the ears of corn, "so you don't burn your hands," she said.
I laughed. "That's great. My parents have something like this, it's very nice."
"And now you have your own set!" she said.
"And it's not even my birthday or anything!" I mean really, I usually get presents when it's Christmastime, which is far from corn-on-the-cob-eating-time.
"It's just a you're-swell present," she said. She's so silly.
Now I want some corn.

Date: 2003-07-21 09:40 pm (UTC)I was grocery shopping with my mom and found the set there. Near the large bin of ears of corn in the fruits and vegetable section, there was a rotating rack display of various corn on the cob "accessories." I knew Holly would appreciate the set. I hope this helps!
I also work at Target, and during the summer months (typically May through July, as Target sets seasonal merchandise months before you can even use/wear it -- we are already getting fall merchandise in July!), you can buy the skewer dealy bobs in packages. So, if you can't find them at your grocery store, Target and other similar stores will have them next summer.
P.S. It's really cool to give a gift and have someone think it's cool enough to write an LJ entry about it! :)
"Very silly indeed!"
