Love again

A couple of weeks ago Jenn and I were in Target and she wanted to look at the cards. She told me I had to, too. I usually love greeting cards--I'll sometimes look at them even if I don't need or intend to buy any, it usually cheers me up--but I don't love Valentine's Day. "Where's the card that says 'I am morally opposed to Valentine's Day'?" I asked.
But then sometime when I was actually concentrating on my homework and Jenn was at my computer she made me something. A piece of paper folded in half. It said "Where are the cards that say 'I am morally opposed to holidays that are named after saints'?" and then on the inside, "Happy V Day. Your not-so-romantic girlfriend, Holly." I laughed.
I picked up a pen, wrote the story behind the card on the back, and mailed it to Matthew.
I kept forgetting it's Valentine's Day, and when people ask me about it I don't have anything to tell them.
"What do you mean, you forgot it was Valentine's Day? You have a boyfriend, don't you?"
"Yes."
"Aren't you guys doing anything?"
"He's far away."
"Oh. What did you get him?"
"I didn't get him anything, exactly."
"What? Why not? What did he get you?"
"He didn't get me anything either."
"Love is strange...no wonder we're so good at it." --saw that on a greeting card, actually
