What I've waited all winter for

Andrew is, touchingly, sympathetic at me after I've RTed the results of my belovedTwins' games so far (after the 4-0 Opening Day loss I said "Starting as they mean to go on there, I see," and last night I said "It's going to be a long season" after they lost 11-0; yep they're still yet to even score a bloody run this season!).

I thanked him but clearly seemed resigned to my fate. And while I'm used to that, of course -- after all, I've been from Minnesota my whole life -- I also recognized something in my tone of voice as being like magister's when he talks about English cricket. And I've been teasing him so mercilessly that I'm sure I've stored up enough sports-fan karma to keep me subdued for a while!

It's been a relatively recent thing for me to see Detroit winning games and that handily, so I know some of that pain myself. Thankfully, it's a long season.

Yeah, my first thought when I saw the scores was how awful it was to lose like this to Detroit. :) But this is only because I'm isolated enough here that I forget the narratives are changing from what I remember them being back when I was around people who talked about baseball all the time, and Detroit are better than I think of them being and the Twins are worse. ;)

Still, as you say, a long season. We'll see what happens!
