A month shy of having been here a year, I've finally been able to convince Andrew to let me teach him how to turn the heating on (or off). I'm very pleased to have one more thing that I am not solely responsible for!

Hurrah for sharing of household-care-duties! Even if one person regularly does one more frequently, it's comforting to know that the other can do it if the usual caretaker isn't able or available.

Absolutely. Andrew's always argued that because he's never cold he has no interest in the heating. But I've pointed out to him that this knowledge would allow him to turn the heat off as well as on. Plus, there are bound to be situations like the one that spurred this post, when I'm shivering under the duvet but too cold and miserable to get out of bed and walk the few steps to the boiler myself even though I know this means I'll stay cold and miserable longer, and he wanted to help me feel better.
